Centrally on the Meir, you can find a genuine palace, The Palace on the Meir. Built in 1745, the originally 18th-century building used to be the residence of important rulers such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Willem I of the Netherlands and the Belgian Royal House. After a lengthy renovation, the palace opened to the public in 2010. Nowadays you can enjoy a historical visit and admire the interior. You can also have a luxurious breakfast or lunch at Café Imperial, and taste the delicious pralines of Dominique Persoone in the chocolate store The Chocolate Line.
The Palace on the Meir is no doubt one of the impressive building of the city.
